Time. Quality time. We've always spent time together as a family. In fact, Rich and I usually choose to just stay home so we can spend more time together. But how constructive has that time been? Well, we're two of the worlds worst decision makers because we're not very opinionated people. Here's how it goes every week: "What do you want to do this weekend?" "I dunno. What do you want to do?" "I dunno." So, in the spirit of being more intentional with our time we do get together, we've started a weekly Family Fun day. This past month was our first month and here's a little of what we did.
1. The Letter P: We headed up to the top of Pilot Butte with a blanket, wine, cheese and crackers and had a picnic with a panoramic view. After that we went to Powell's Candy for gelato.
2. An Affair to Remember: This day was...interesting. It all started with a black cat crossing our path. Went to a coffee shop, it was awful. Then I got pulled over and a $150 ticket. We went to an indoor pool for kiddie swim which was great but we were late because of the ticket so only had a short period to play. From there we had lunch which also included it's share of maladies, like exploding ketchup. We ended the night at our good friends house for dinner, and luckily left the curse behind there.
3. Video Date: We took the kids to an arcade to have greasy food and blow some quarters. Tayden loved collecting the tickets, but got sidtracked at the race car & motorcycle games and spent all our money there. He did have enough to cash in for a little plastic car and temporary tattoos :)
4. An Afternoon of Regression: This day was all about doing things we did as kids. Since it was the day before Halloween we did some fall activities. With the fireplace roaring we started with (orange) chocolate chip pancakes, a childhood favorite. Then we carved a (shark) pumpkin, made orange pomanders, and roasted pumpkin seeds.
So that was our month of October. It's fun, give it a try!
